Council lauded for quake recovery – Christchurch Press

A Canterbury council has been hailed as an “exemplar for earthquake recovery” in an assessment of its response to the September 2010 and February disasters, writes Michael Wright in the Christchurch Press on 18 October.

The Waimakariri District Council achieved “reasonable expectations” in nearly all categories reviewed by the Future Canterbury Network, surpassed expectations in one, and was judged a “work in progress” in another.

The network, made up of Canterbury business and community leaders, is evaluating all the authorities involved in quake recovery.
